Returning to What's Natural

Nature provides a quiet kind of support that is steady, grounding, and always available. It doesn’t ask anything of us, yet it offers so much. Space to breathe. Space to think. Space to simply be.

What Does “Natural” Really Mean?

When we think about the definition of natural, it’s something that exists without interference, something real, unfiltered, and inherently balanced. We are part of that if we allow ourselves to be. In a world filled with schedules, screens, and constant stimulation, it’s easy to lose that connection.

That’s why intentionally stepping away from the man-made and back into nature can feel like such a reset, not as an escape, but as a return.

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”

— Lao Tzu

Simple Ways to Enjoy Nature

Connecting with nature doesn’t have to be complicated. It simply begins with a conscious choice to step into a more natural environment.

  • Sitting quietly and noticing what’s around you

  • Taking a slow walk without a destination

  • Visiting a local park or walking trail and allowing yourself to fully arrive

  • Exploring outdoor experiences and events in your community

  • Outdoor dining with family or friends

My Favorite Practice: The 5 Senses Walk

One of my favorite ways to reconnect and something we incorporate into the retreats, is the 5 senses walk.

This practice gently brings you back into the present moment by tuning into:

  • What you see

  • What you hear

  • What you touch

  • What you smell

  • What you taste

It’s simple, accessible, and incredibly grounding.

At the farm, this experience becomes even more powerful. Surrounded by open space, natural beauty, and a slower pace, you begin to notice things you might otherwise miss. There’s something powerful about giving yourself or your team the space to reconnect in this way.

As the days are becoming longer and warmer, may you find a moment to step away from the constant doing, spend time in nature, and reconnect with what’s already within you.
